History

Formed in 1878, Clowne Town CC has always played at its current ground on High Leys road, Clowne. At the time of its formation there were at least four other cricket teams playing in Clowne and one of these was called Clowne Cricket Club hence the name Clowne Town.

Up until the 2000 season the club had played most of its cricket in the Bassetlaw Cricket league with the first team winning the division 3 title in their last year in the league.

The 2000 season saw the club enter two teams in the Derbyshire County Cricket League. This season also saw the club move into the new pavilion which had been constructed with the aid of a lottery grant from Sport England.

The club currently have three senior sides in the Derbyshire County League, one additional senior side in the Mansfield Sunday League, and junior sides at under 11s, 12s, 13s and 15s in the Chesterfield and District Junior Cricket League.

New members are always welcome whether they be players, social members or are interested in any other activities such as scoring, umpiring, or groundwork.
